Nature School

Tomahawk Nature School program will operate out of Tomahawk School. This is a unique and optional extension program that will get children active and in touch with nature while essentially extending a child's Kindergarten experience from half-time to full-time in the process or supplementing their home school programming.

Nature School is an optional extension program focused on providing meaningful student engagement in a nature-based setting while addressing health and life skills. With our ultimate goal being student success and well-being, children spend the majority of their day outside exploring the local environment as inspiration for their play and inquiry. Nature School nurtures independent, confident and resilient learners with a zeal for problem-solving. Physical literacy and life-long health and well-being are fostered through outdoor adventures that contribute to the social and emotional assets of individual health.

  • Serves as an extension to a regular kindergarten program, with a strong focus on health and life skills. This will also be open to Kindergarten to Grade 3 homeschool families.
  • *Led by recreation staff with support from a qualified educational assistant.
  • Classes are on Monday/Wednesday, plus some Fridays.
  • Open to all families, however, you must be registered for a kindergarten class with a recognized Alberta kindergarten program.
